Dental
Bridges

An alternative treatment in the case of a patient who has lost a tooth is a dental bridge. A dental bridge permanently replaces a missing tooth or teeth.

dental bridge essentially fills a gap in the dentition. It involves replacing a missing tooth with a prosthetic tooth attached to the natural teeth on either side of the gap. There are two main types of dental bridges. The most common consists of two crowns, permanently attached to the natural teeth on either side of the interval, with the prosthetic tooth (or teeth) connecting them all together —hence the name dental bridge.

IMPROVE SPEECH
Missing teeth can affect speech or the ability to pronounce certain words. Dental bridges restore your teeth and restore your ability to correctly vocalize words.

MAINTAIN THE NATURAL SHAPE OF YOUR FACE
Missing teeth cause wear and tear on the jaw bones because the roots stimulate the bone cells in the jaw. The consequences of jaw bone wear are the involvement of other nearby teeth, as well as deformity of the face.

PREVENT TEETH FROM SHIFTING
It is not only the roots that hold the teeth in place. The surrounding teeth function to maintain the alignment of the mouth.

Benefits

The benefits of dental bridges are varied, having functional advantages for oral health. As well as aesthetic advantages and self-esteem.

RESTORE YOUR SMILE
Restoring the smile strengthens the patient's confidence. A complete smile improves the overall appearance of your face and presence.

IMPROVE CHEWING
By completing the missing teeth, full chewing of the mouth is restored. This improves swallowing, prevents the teeth from moving into the gaps of the missing teeth and also reduces the occurrence of gum disease by protecting the exposed tooth.

There are 5 types of dental bridges used today:

1. Traditional bridges:
These are the most popular type of dental bridges. They can be used when you have healthy teeth or implants on either side of the missing tooth.
If your hygiene and home care are maintained at an optimal level, this type of bridge can last a long time.

2. Cantilever bridges:
This cantilever bridge can be used when only one anchor tooth is available to support the bridge. It is not recommended in the back of the mouth where a lot of force can be put on the bite. But it can work if it is well designed and if the cantilever tooth is the front tooth. These types of dental bridges are a valuable option when it comes to saving time and money.

3. Bridges in Maryland:
This option is conservative in nature, they are often referred to as a bonded resin bridge. They are basically designed with plastic teeth with gum-like material that is fortified by a metal frame.
The great advantage of this type of dental bridge is that minimal adjustment to the contour of the abutment teeth is required. A good evaluation of your bite will determine if this is a viable option, as deep or cross bites are contraindicated.

4. Composite bridge:
This is an easy and affordable solution for people who have lost one or two teeth. It requires a single visit to the dentist, filling the space with a composite bonding material.
Like Maryland bridges, they are considered temporary and can be used by people with periodontal disease who postpone the extraction of their compromised teeth until the end.

5. Implant-supported bridges:
The placement of an implant-supported bridge has increased in popularity as it solves two possible conditions. It is more advisable to support a bridge on two implants than to place 3 implants on the same arch. Additionally, they do not require the wear of adjacent teeth since the crowns are fixed on the implants.
